The 438 Series Multi-Wavelength Meter from Bristol Instruments operates from 1000 to 1680 nm covering C,L,T and O optical bands. It can simultaneously measure the wavelength, power, and signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of up to 1000 discrete optical signals. The device can measure wavelength to an accuracy as high as ± 0.3 pm and power is measured to an accuracy of ± 0.5 dB. The 438 system automatically calculates OSNR to greater than 40 dB. It has a high sensitivity of -40 dBm with automatic gain control and has fastest measurement rate of 10 Hz for reduced testing times. The convenient touch-screen display reports measurement data in a variety of formats. It has a warm up time of less than 15 minutes. The wavelength meter is available in a system that measures  89 mm x 432 mm x 381 mm and weighs 7.65 kg.

Two versions of the 438 Multi-Wavelength Meter are available. The model 438A is the most accurate, measuring wavelength to ± 0.3 pm. For less exacting test requirements, the model 438B is a lower-priced alternative with a wavelength accuracy of ± 1.0 pm.
